Eco Week

We have been busy this week taking part in a number of activities for eco week.

Monday started with an exciting drama workshop, where the class explored the themes of climate change and sustainability through a range of drama techniques.

On Tuesday we learnt about biodegradation and how long it took different materials to break down. We've set up an experiment on the playground which we will leave out over next half term to observe for ourselves biodegradation in action.

On Wednesday we took part in a class litter pick around the school site, recording the rubbish we collected in order to reflect on it back in class.  Together we picked up 272 pieces of litter.

On Thursday, we designed new posters reminding children to put their litter in the bin!

Across the week we set ourselves the challenge to keep the classroom lights off all week. It's been a little tricky, but we've managed it!

All in all, it's a been a great week, raising eco awareness.

Mummification - today we learnt about how and why the ancient Egyptians mummified their pharaohs. We had good fun mummifying one member of the class!

Teaching Talons - The children were fascinated by all the weird and wonderful Amazon rainforest animals that were brought into school this week.

Board Games - The children had great fun designing and making their own board games this week. They enjoyed playing each other's games so much we've decided to keep them in a folder to get out during golden times and wet play!
