First aid and medicines

We have a number of staff who are first aid trained. If your child receives first aid treatment at school we will send home a slip to inform you.

We are able to administer medicines to pupils with long term medical needs e.g asthma and epilepsy. It is very important that we are informed about any medical needs your child may have as a care plan may need to be written this ensures we can care for them safely.

In the rare event that your child needs short term medication during the school day please inform the school office.

Children must never bring any medicines, creams, or throat / cough sweets to school.

If your child is taken ill during the school day we will contact you so that you can collect them. If you are unavailable we will contact one of your nominated contacts.

Please make sure you inform us of any changes to your contact details.

Sickness and Diarrhoea

To minimise the spread of infection children must remain away from school for 48 hours following any incident of sickness or diarrhoea.

Our policy explains more about how we manage medical conditions and medicines in school.
