Welcome to Year 2!
The children are settling well into Mulberry Class and we had a really good first week. We spent a lot of time getting back into routines, with reminders of expectations and good manners. The children have enjoyed being back together and getting to know their new classroom and the adults in Mulberry Class.
Mrs Hogg teaches the class on a Monday and I teach the rest of the week with my planning, preparation and assessment time on Thursday afternoons, while the children have thier PE lesson.
Mrs Scott is our classroom TA on Monday to Thursday mornings and Mrs Hill and Mrs Cornford help with SEN throughout the week. Mrs Scott also takes the children to lunch and helps them in the dining room before Mrs Meladosi (known as "Miss Cris") takes them out to play. Mrs Hilson runs the library, so the children will see her on a Friday, when they change their books fortnightly.
Our Classroom:
Children in year 2 are expected to change for PE, so their kits must be in school for their Thursday lessons. It is best for them to leave it at school and take it home at the end of a half term for a wash. Please encourage your child to change independently at home to allow them to develop their speed!
Forest schools takes place on a Monday, please see the attached timetable;
Please see the useful information below; our provisional timetable, which will give you an idea of what your child does each day. Topic lessons will be changeable as some half terms I teach geography, and some will have a history focus, for example. You can also find the whole year curriculum overview below.
We have a flexible sitting approach to ensure the children can sit comfortably and therefore get the most out of their learning. We have agreed on these positions that the children can alternate between as and when they need to:
Please remember you can contact me and Mrs Hogg using the class email address: mulberry@linsladelower.beds.sch.uk should you have anything you wish to let us know or discuss, and we will respond at the earliest convenience.
I look forward to getting to know you and your child!
Miss Stokes
