Key Stage 1 Olympic Fun Day

Oak and Mulberry Classes have joined together for an Olympic Fun Day. We learned a little about the history and ethos of the Olympic Games, bringing nations together in a celebration of sport. Then the children were put into teams representing 10 nations from across the continents and spent the first part of the morning making team badges and designing a medal.  They also decorated one of our school Leo lions as a team mascot and made a banner to display their country name in preparation for the opening ceremony. We gathered in the Hall where the teams took turns to introduce themselves accompanied by the national anthem of their country. We then paraded onto the field and the games began…..

The children competed in the javelin, an Olympic flag jigsaw relay race, show-jumping with hobby horses, hockey dribbling skills and a tennis racket egg and spoon race.

After lunch, when the scores had been totted up, we held a closing ceremony and the bronze, silver and gold medals were awarded, as well as a special award for the best dressed mascot!

We all had a wonderful day and it was lovely to see the children enjoy themselves, showing super team-working skills and sportsmanship!

Forest schools for Mulberry Class is fortnightly, starting on Monday 22nd January. See the below timetable for future dates.

Welcome to Mulberry Class 2023!

The children have already settled well into their new room and they are beginning to show a more mature attitude to year 2 so far! I am looking forward to the term ahead. Our PE day is Thursday - remember the children can now wear their PE kit for the day. Forest school starts for Mulberry on Monday 25th September - ensure kit is in school please!

Thank you to those who attended the Zoom meeting - there was lots of information to share! It is all in the slides below, along with the class timetable which will give you an idea of what your child does each day. Topic lessons will be changeable as some half terms I teach geography, and some will have a history focus, for example.
